Bravery - The People's Backbone of Power

Bravery is the willingness to pursue success for tomorrow through failure today. If we end failure, we end success and are left with only stagnation. A better tomorrow is impossible without the acceptance of failure today.

The challenge is the acceptance of failure when it’s fatal. There is no life without death. There is no success without the risk of death in failure.

There are certain people to whom we say, “Thank you for your service.” What we leave unsaid is, “Thank you for your willingness to die for us.” It’s what we mean because we know it’s what they’d do. Do we lack the bravery to say it? Are we afraid to say, “die for us?” It’s what we mean because we know it’s what they’d do.

Now what happens when we, all of us Americans, look in the mirror of America. Can we say, “Thank you for your service?” More importantly, can we say, “Thank you for your willingness to die for us?” Or do we reserve those only for the people we pay to do that for us?

It’s very easy to contract out bravery to someone else. It’s very hard to do bravery yourself. Very hard. Is that bravery too hard to continue pursuing success?

We all know there is a bravery America stands for. But who actually stands for that? Who are the ones who do? Who are the ones who hope someone does? Which of those Is growing? Which is shrinking?

The success of a country grows due to more than just living in its geography. It grows due to the willingness to accept the power to defend it, both outside and inside its borders. That power originates in the bravery of the people. Not some people. The people.

Each of us has the freedom to decide what bravery is. The sum of our choices will determine what the level of the power of the people will be. That level of power will determine whether bravery is just a word or a depth of America’s soul. Failure or success.
